IncSmart New York (Small Business and Startups) - FAO Schwarz has found a new home in New York City. FAO Schwarz is a famous toy store with scenes in several Christmas movies. The store is over 150 years old, opening it's doors back in 1862. They closed its doors in the General Motors Building two years ago because of the rising rent. The new location is 8 blocks south of the old and will open in the Fall of 2018 at West 49th and West 50th Streets.
It's comeback will be in the Rockefeller Plaza, one of New York Cities busiest tourist attractions. The location will also shrink the size of the store to 19,000 square feet to 61,000 square feet. The store, at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, is currently occupied by the NBC Experience Store. The new space spans the ground floor of Rockefeller center to the mezzanine level.
