Speakeasies to Open by March 2018

IncSmart Nevada (Small Business and Startups) -  City and County officials want to make Las Vegas, the first city in the country to open marijuana lounges.  They hope to have the lounges opened by March or April of 2017.  The lounges may also obtain separate licenses to sell marijuana paraphernalia, such as pipe and bongs.  The lounges are also looking at food service , as long as the food does not contain pot or pot oils.  The lounges will not sale pot, but will allow customers to bring their own.

Absence of the mandate penalties, Americans will voluntarily forgo enrolling in health care coverage, instead of losing coverage.  The CBO says the repeal of the mandate will not result in a catastrophe for the American health industry, but just ends forcing all Americans to purchase insurance they may not need or want.  The penalty for not having health coverage in 2017 is $695 per adult and $348 per child.  This ends up being 2.5% of the household income, whichever is greater.  Four million taxpayers paid the penalty in 2016.

IncSmart Virginia (Small Business and Startups) - Virginia ready for the new defense budget.  President Trump signed into law on December 12, a $700 billion defense budget.  The new budget is known as the National Defense Authorization Act.  The law funds new priorities for the military.  The budget includes $26 billion for 14 new ships, $6 billion for Virginia Class Submarines, and $5 billion for aircraft carriers. The navy at this time has 270 vessels and would grow to 355 ships with the new bill.  All reactors that will go into the nuclear carriers and submarines are built in Lynchburg.
