Registered Agent Statutes
In America, a registered agent is a business or individual designated to receive service of process when a registered business is the party in a legal action, or lawsuit. The registered agent's address may also be used by some states for notices about maintenance fees. The registered agent for a business entity may be an individual member of the company, or a registered agent company, such as the organization's lawyer or a service company. Failure to properly maintain a registered agent can affect a company's good standing.
