IncSmart California (Small Business and Startups) - The Stratolaunch aircraft is out of its hangar for the first time in four years. The hanger was custom made and built in the Mojave desert. Now the test begin with ground fueling tests and flight testing.construction phase. The Mojave Air and Space Port was first opened as the Mojave Airport in 1935 as a rural airfield serving the local gold and silver mining industry. Today it hosts more than 60 companies, which includes the Stratolaunch.
The Stratolaunch is on its way to providing routine access to low Earth orbit. This plane is huge. It has 28 wheels and is approximately 500,000 pounds. It is the largest plane in the world with a wingspan, measuring 385 foot. The length of a NFL football field is only 360 foot. The Stratolaunch is capable of carrying payloads of 550,000 pounds. Launch missions will carry rockets that will release small satellites.
