President Trump has included in his budget, monies to reopen Yucca Mountain as permanent housing for radioactive nuclear waste. At this point in time, nuclear energy plants are required to house their own waste on the site of the energy reactors. For the safety of US citizens, there is a push to have the waste taken and cared for in one place.
With Reid gone, the push for Yucca is on the fast track. Yucca Mountain is 137 miles from Las Vegas, just east of Beatty Nevada in the Nevada Test Site. Beatty is also an entry point for Death Valley National Park
