Utah Eyes 2026 Olympic Venue
IncSmart Utah (Small Business and Startups) - Utah eyes the 2026 Winter Olympics.  Utah ski officials kick off the new season hoping the city bids on another Winter Olympics.  Ski venues are experiencing back to back record visitation and tourism numbers. The 14 Utah ski resorts are hoping to benefit form infrastructure improvements if the Olympic committee chooses Utah.  Polls also show that percent of the states citizens, support bidding for another Salt Lake Olympics.  Other American cities interested in hosting a Winter Games, include Denver and Reno-Tahoe.

The winter sports industry has registered 4.6 million skiers last winter, surpassing nearly 4.5 million the year before.  Salt Lake City and its bid for the 2026 or 2030 Winter Olympics is based on its ability to reduce the cost of hosting the games.  The budget now is $1.2 billion.  Sponsorship revenue might also be limited because Los Angeles has already been awarded the 2028 Summer Olympics.  The committee is expected to make a recommendation to Utah leaders by the end 2018. The USOC will decide on whether to advance an American candidate to the IOC.
