United Soccer League for Nevada

IncSmart Nevada (Small Business and Startups) - Las Vegas Soccer LLC introduced the United Soccer League to the City of Las Vegas.  Las Vegas Soccer LLC wants a soccer team to downtown Las Vegas. The city unanimously approved the expansion team, and Las Vegas becomes the 33rd team to join the USL.  This may also be a first step for Major League Soccer.  There are 12 cities competing for four MLS expansion teams.  Las Vegas did not try to qualify this year.  The USL has more than doubled in size since 2014 with 30 teams compete in the league.

Now that Las Vegas council members voted unanimously to approve a 15-year lease agreement for a United Soccer League team to play its home games at Cashman Field, it's moving ahead for a start in February for the 2018 season.  The new team has yet to be named.  It will share the Cashman field with the 51s, a minor league baseball team.  The new Las Vegas USL team will play 16 regular season games, and might play MLS and international teams during preseason. The USL regular season and post season,  runs from March to November.  Cashman Field could draw thousands to it's 10,000 seat stadium downtown on a nightly basis. The average attendance for the USL’s top 10 teams in 2016 was 6,724  USL says this is a 25 percent increase from 2015.
