IncSmart New York (Small Business and Startups) - Uber will be offering helicopter rides in New York City. Uber Technologies Inc is going to start testing service in New York City starting on July 9th. Customer will be able to book flights starting July 7th on the new app called Uber Copter. The rides can be booked up to five days in advance and each ride will hold 5 customers.
The average ride will be priced between $200 and $250, depending on consumer demand. To start, you will need to be a member of the Uber Loyalty Program who qualify. The first flight will be from lower Manhattan near the Staten Island Ferry to JFK International Airport in Queens. The ride will last 8 minutes compared to the two hour drive.
