UK Spends $1 Billion in Wisconsin

IncSmart Wisconsin (Small Business and Startups) - The United Kingdom will spend over $1 billion to acquire a fleet of 2,747 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles.  Britain has won State Department approval to buy JLTVs from Wisconsin based Oshkosh Defense LLC in Oshkosh Wisconsin.  Oshkosh Defense LLC will be the principal contractor and will provide minimum contractor support until Britain can transition to internal support.  The sale also includes B-kit armor, spare tires and fording gear. 

Oshkosh is hiring between 300 and 500 employees for its Defense facilities in Wisconsin and recalling 550 to 650 JLG employees in Pennsylvania for JLG Industries, Inc.   In August 2015, Oshkosh Corp. beat out Lockheed Martin Corp., the world’s largest defense contractor, and AM General LLC, maker of the Humvee, for a $6.7 billion contract to build the first 17,000 JLTVs for the two services.  The Pentagon plans to spend $20.5 billion to buy 54,714 JLTVs. The JLTV is a new all-purpose military vehicle that has been designed to replace the Humvee in the US military. The Humvee struggled in Iraq, where its flat-bellied hull was unable to dissipate the blasts of roadside bombs.
