IncSmart Alaska (Small Business and Startups) - The Anchorage-based 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, has evaded the shrinking its force size, as planned under the Obama administration.  2,600 soldiers housed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson were slated for elimination. This would have been a significant impact to small businesses and general economy of Anchorage.  The Air Force will also will send two squadrons of F-35A fighter aircraft to Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks.  The base is also sending in formal requests to bring 54 new stealth strike fighters to Alaska.  More than 3,000 people will be connected to the F-35 program, including airmen and contractors.

Alaska's strategic significance and critical location on the globe.  Alaska's is very close to the Asia-Pacific region, and America's Arctic.  The U.S. Senate passed a defense authorization bill that included several Alaska-focused provisions.
