South Dakota Joins Fermi Lab Experiment
IncSmart South Dakota (Small Business and Startups) - South Dakota joins the Fermi Lab experiment with Kiewit Alberici bringing jobs to Lead.  The science experiment is growing and expanding at the Sanford underground Research Facility, and is expected to hire between 30 to 100 employees.  The office will be located in downtown Lead at the Gold Rush Plaza.  Subcontracts will be awarded to local contractors.  Contracts will last as long as 5 years.  Lead is an old mining town located in the Black Hills region of South Dakota,  home of the Homestake Miming Company.

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment is still under construction.  It will fire trillions of neutrons from the Fermi Lab in Illinois to the Sanford Lab in South Dakota, a distance of 810 miles.  The Facility will house the experiment in three caverns next to the Ross Shaft Complex.  875,000 tons or rock will need to be excavated.  Much of the excavation will begin in November of 2020.
