IncSmart New York (Small Business and Startups) - Self driving shuttle arrives in New York. Coast Autonomous, a new startup in California, chose Times Square in New York City as the roll out for its new self driving bus going up and down Broadway between 47th and 48th Streets. They expect to deploy the first fleets in 2019. It is the first AV company to operate in Manhattan.
Headquartered in Pasadena, Coast's first shuttle is called P1 Shuttle. The speed is 15 miles an hour. It uses two sensors in the front and rear of the vehicle. Room for 14 seated people and 6 standing people. Coast Autonomous is a software company, not a auto manufacturer.
