IncSmart Washington (Small Business and Startups) - Bernie Sanders strikes as Amazon in Washington. Says that workers are not paid enough money. Sanders claims the Amazon workers are underpaid compared to the industry standards. Senator Sanders has introduced a bill that would tax Amazon who's employees collect public assistance. The bill is named STOP BEZOS ACT. He want's Amazon to pay employees a living wage so employees will not have to take tax payer funds such as Food Stamp or SNAP, Medicaid and public housing. The tax would equal the public benefits their workers receive.
Amazon claims it's workers are paid $15 an hour. The payment includes cash, stock and bonuses. The hourly wage was not given without the stock and bonuses however. This bill is on the heels of President Trump's attack on Amazon for another tax payer funded program. The US Mail. The discounts Amazon receives from the US Post Office costs tax payers money. Amazon is now buying vans to perform it's own delivery service.
