Recovery After Massachusetts Explosions
IncSmart Massachusetts (Small Business and Startups) - There will be an extensive recovery effort after the Massachusetts gas line explosions.  There was a series of natural gas explosions in three towns north of Boston.  Over 8000 people were displaced and asked to go north of the Merrimack river.  There were fires in more than 80 homes that were serviced by Columbia Gas.  All homes with Columbia Gas service, were asked to evacuate.  The first responders are still locating underground gas leaks by using infrared cameras.

The three towns with the most damage north of Boston are Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover.  The three communities account for over 146,000 residents in and around the surrounding area.  Utility crews have been shutting off gas and electricity.  Columbia Gas had just announced they were upgrading the aging pipes.  Some of the pipe lines can be dated back to 1860.  Along with turning off the gas in each house, the crews were inspecting to see if the house structures were safe to move back into.
