IncSmart Minnesota (Small Business and Startups) - Duluth is thriving. Just under 7 million visitors a year, this Minnesota city is has learned how to bring a record number of visitors to town. Not only has this port city has gained a reputation both locally and nationally as an outdoor capital, Duluth is making investments into parks and outdoor spaces. The city is making those outdoor activities benefit extend to everyone in the community. Journeys to those awesome views, are for local as well. As new tourist companies increasing, so are the service business such as restaurants and retail to take advantage of demand.
Not everyone is thrilled with the growth. With the attention and flood visitors, price gouging has raised it's ugly head. So has the ability of the city to protect it's resources. The city has learned to increase social services such as trash and park erosion.
