Oakland Raiders move to Nevada

IncSmart Nevada (Small Business and Startups) - The NFL's annual spring meeting in Phoenix voted 31-1 to move the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas. This is the Raiders second move from Oakland. The first was the move to Los Angeles 35 years ago. The Raiders would play in Oakland for at least one more season, and also have an option to renew the lease at the Coliseum in 2018.

Raiders owner Mark Davis from taking advantage of $750 million in public funding (plus another $200 million for maintenance over 30 years) towards the nearly $2 billion stadium project in downtown Las Vegas. They overcame the old-school owners concerned about the gambling element, but that isn’t considered the problem it was in the past, given the growth of internet betting, and billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson being detached from the project months ago.
