New Jersey Individual Mandate
IncSmart New Jersey (Small Business and Startups) - New Jersey moves closer to their own individual mandate for insurance.  The New Jersey legislature passed to bills for the governor to sign, against the voters will.  The Democratic legislature in New Jersey is looking for ways to stabilize the insurance industry in the state.

New Jersey could become the second state with individual mandates, following Massachusetts. The individual mandate plan would require health insurance. Those who don’t have coverage would face a fine of 2.5% of their household income or $695 per adult and $347 per children, whichever is greater. The federal individual mandate penalty ends in 2019.  189,000 New Jersey residents paid the penalty in 2015.
