Atlantic City still has nine casinos open, after the twelve that have been closed in this seaside gambling resort, and the Boardwalk is open year round. The former Trump Taj Mahal will open as the Hardrock, and Revel will open as the Ocean Resort Casino. The Hard Rock Hotel will hire 3,800 employees and the Ocean Resort Casino will hire an additional 3000 jobs.
With these two casinos opening, it gives a chance to breath new life into the boardwalk. Some towns surrounding Atlantic City are not letting Airbnb to open. Unemployment in Atlantic City is 8.6%. Between 6000 and 11,000 jobs were lost from the casino shutdowns. The Atlantic City casinos employed 42,000 people before the crash. Last summer they employed just over 22,000.
