New Hampshire Develops Prosthetic Arms
IncSmart New Hampshire (Small Business and Startups) - A new bionic arm, manufactured by Mobius Bionics based in Manchester New Hampshire is the futuristic prosthetic arm that will change the industry as we know it.  The new arm named the LUKE,  was inspired by the robotic arm Luke Skywalker received after his fight with Darth Vader in Star Wars.  This new arm includes a powered shoulder joint for overhead an d behind the back reach, an elbow strong enough to lift 10 pounds, a wrist with dexterity and motion. and a complex hand.

Mobius Bionics said dozens of units could be made available for sale this year.  The price tag could reach $100,000.  Veteran amputees are set to be the first beneficiaries.  Over 1,600 American soldiers have lost limbs in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  American veterans hospitals treated around 20,000 arm amputees in 2016 alone.  David Shulkin, the Secretary of Veteran Affairs said nearly 80 people are currently being trained to use this new prosthetic arm.
