Maine Outdoors Brands Boosts Sports Companies

IncSmart Maine (Small Business and Startups) - Maine Outdoors Brands created to help Maine sports and out door companies.  This business alliance was created to make America aware of the great outdoors in Maine, and its large outdoor recreation economy.  They also hope to reach a younger workforce and to attract them to move to the state.  The alliance has nearly 30 members.  The outdoors industry is responsible for 76,000 Maine jobs.  These jobs are paying $2.2 billion in wages creating $548 million in state and local taxes. 

Maine has a reputation for hiking, biking and paddling.  Maine Office of Tourism, helped bring 38 million tourists a year to the state.  The coalition will also include creating a business climate that promotes outdoor product brands and the younger workforce they attract and will lure young people to live and work in the state.  This will be another step toward strengthening the state's economy.
