IncSmart Hawaii (Small Business and Startups) - The International Market Place in Waikiki is booming with business.  In August, they will celebrate the first anniversary of the $475 million dollar overhaul.  Many improvement have been made to the open air shopping mall.  Included it the anniversary celebration, will be the unveiling of the Don Ho statue at the shopping center.  His birth date is August 13.  This special dedication of the first anniversary of International Market Place, will include friends and family. 

The shopping center has a a capacity for 100 tenants.  It currently hires 2,000 employees. This number is expected to grow to 2,500 when the center is full and all spaces are leased next year.  The center has grown from 30 kiosks to 80 retail stores and restaurants.   There will be another 14 tenants by the end of the year. The 345,000 square foot marketplace, is anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue.  Several other high end retailers have signed leases with the center.  By the end of 2017, the center will be 85 percent occupied.  Hawaii’s unemployment rate is 2.7.
