IncSmart Illinois (Small Business and Startups) - GE Healthcare will to add 5,000 software engineers. GE Healthcare is best known for its hardware production. From imaging machines such as MRIs and ultrasounds, the company is pushing for software development as well. The new software employees will focus on their cloud storage unit named Predix. They are opening up the platform to both GE software engineers and other groups who can build medical aps. Among the new employees, will be included software engineers, data analysts, and imaging analysts.
GE Healthcare will be moving its global headquarters from the London to Chicago. The health care business will closer to operations in Chicago and Milwaukee, while keeping its employees near an international transportation hub. GE Healthcare employs about 6,000 people in Wisconsin.
