IncSmart Washington DC (Small Business and Startups) - The Trump administration delays the International Entrepreneur Rule. This immigration rule is for foreign entrepreneurs and their ability to work in the United States. This rule would allow business owners to grow their new companies in the US for 30 months without applying for a visa. This rule will be postponed until March 14, 2018. The policy being delayed by the Department of Homeland Security.
The decision is part of government review of federal immigration programs. Tech firms in Silicon Valley, have been pushing for this rule. The tech companies says they have benefited from startups by immigrants. However the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security will take action to ensure that a "Parole Authority” be kept in place. This is a action which the department will temporarily allow individuals into the country on a case by case basis. To qualify, the new companies need to raised $250,000 for their businesses from American investors or $100,000 in grants from government entities.
