District of Columbia Hiring Freeze
IncSmart District of Columbia (Small Business and Startups) -The Trump administration has issued an Executive Order to freeze hiring across the federal government with the exceptions of military, national security or public safety personnel.  Sean Spicer, the White House Press Secretary, said the freeze gives American taxpayers a break and affords an effective and efficient government to counter the dramatic expansion of the federal workforce in recent years.

According to Office of Personnel Management, the federal government hired 221,000 workers in 2015, the most recent year for which data is available.  Total federal personal now reaches in the upwards of 4,185,000.  Federal workers are not limited to Washington, D.C.  The top states for federal employees are Hawaii - 5.6% of all workers, Maryland - 5.5% of all workers, and Virginia - 4.6% of all workers.
