IncSmart Delaware (Small Business and Startups) - Delaware is on the verge of legalizing marijuana recreationally next year. House Bill 110, would create regulations which would consist of taxes collected on marijuana, license feeds paid by marijuana businesses, and any fines imposed. The current marijuana prohibition laws are a complete failure. Projections could bring Delaware around $25-27 billion in tax revenue a year to start.
The General Assembly is going to study the outcome of regulating and taxing marijuana for recreational use in Delaware for adults 21 and older. All agree that legalization would reduce the criminal market and also provide residents of the state with a safe product. Eight states have enacted laws regulating marijuana for adult use: Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. In the District of Columbia, voters enacted a law making personal possession and home cultivation legal for adults 21 and older.
