IncSmart California (Small Business and Startups) - Conventions are leaving California. An unnamed medical association is pulling out of San Francisco. The five day trade show with 15,000 attendees spends over $40 million dollars in the city. The association is looking for a new host city. The reason - safety concerns. A member of the association was assaulted last year at the Moscone Center. The convention cancelation was a huge blow to the city as they downplay the nick name of San Fallujah. Crime in San Francisco is 117% higher than the average American city with numbers like 85 vehicles are broken into every day.
San Francisco's largest revenue stream comes from tourism, and visitors have had enough with the crime from illegal immigration and the homeless population. According to the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, the San Francisco tourism industry creates 80,000 jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in local taxes.
