IncSmart Connecticut (Small Business and Startups) - Connecticut aerospace company signs agreements with Vietnam air carriers. United Technologies Corp, is the big winner with Vietnam Airlines and discount carrier VietJet Air. The signing took place in a ceremony in Vietnam's capital, Hanoi. The deal is valued at $1.5 billion with Vietnam Airlines and $500 million with VietJet Air. This new agreement will contribute to reinforcing Vietnam and American economic and business ties.
Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp based in Farmington, Connecticut. The engines being sold are the GTF engine, the 44 PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF). The purchase also includes a 12 year EngineWise Fleet Management Program. Pratt & Whitney has had relations with Vietnam Airlines since the early 1990s. The new agreements happen at the same time as Pratt & Whitney new engineering building which hires1700 employees in East Hartford.
