California to Expand Convention Facilities
IncSmart California  (Small Business and Startups) - The operator of the Los Angeles Convention Center, Anschutz Entertainment Group, is proposing a $1.2 Billion expansion.  The expansion would be a public and private partnership and will include a new 40 tower hotel.  They are requesting tax incentives for the project.  The proposal outlines an aggressive time table to end the construction in 2021.

The expansion will include a 350,000 square foot as South Figueroa, that will bring the space to a total of 1.2 million square feet.   The proposal also includes a new Marriot hotel on Olympic Boulevard.  The 40 story hotel will have 850 rooms.  The city is currently spending $48 million a year to pay for the last expansion in 1990s.
