Arkansas Hires Hundreds of Truck Drivers
IncSmart Arkansas (Small Business and Startups) - Arkansas hires hundreds of truck drivers to cover shortages.  The salary for the new drivers is increasing to $90,000 a year.  Included with the pay increase, Walmart is adding 1 cent per mile in addition to the 88 cents per mile they are paying.  The median salary for truck drives is $54,000 a year, according to The American Trucking Association.  The association also said there is a nationwide shortage of truck driver and the number could be as high as 175,000 by the year 2026.

Last year Walmart hired over 1400 new drivers and are expected to the same this year.  Truck drivers are encouraged to call the Director of Truck Drivers, Lori Furnell, and inquire about the openings.  She is looking for drivers with over 30 months experience with a good driving record.  Walmart has a road team and a Certified Driver Training Program.  With the Trump economy and Walmart's growth, hiring new truckers is essential to keep up with the current business.
