IncSmart Nevada (Small Business and Startups) - Apple will invest $1 billion in expanding its campus at the Reno Technology Park The Reno Technology Park is located in the Truckee River canyon east of Sparks. This expansion will initiate hiring of hundreds of residents in operations and construction. Employment could include 100 permanent jobs and 300 construction jobs. The company currently has over 700 employees in the state. Google has also purchased 1,210 acres of land at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, joining Tesla as home for high tech companies.
Apple needs the expanded data center to meet its soaring iCloud storage demands. The announcement is the latest in a string of technology company expansions in Northern Nevada, which is becoming home to a thriving data storage industry. Apple is also building a warehouse in downtown Reno that will spur additional development in the Tessera District.
