IncSmart Virginia (Small Business and Startups) - Governor Ralf Northern announces Amazon's plans to headquarter in National Landing Virginia. Virginia is offering Amazon $573 million is subsidies from the state. Virginia is also paying bonuses to Amazon for helping create jobs, and a $300 million dollar infrastructure deal. Virginia will provide Amazon $22,000 per person for workforce creation, up to a maximum of $750 million dollars. Virginia and Arlington County are offering as much as $800 in public assistance. Virginia will have to share the headquarters with New York City.
Amazon will bring a 2.5 billion dollar investment to the state. 25,000 new jobs and 4 million feet of real estate development. New jobs will be opening up in Crystal City and Pentagon City. Virginia Tech also plans on building a $1 billion dollar graduate campus within walking distance of the new Amazon compound.
