IncSmart Missouri (Small Business and Startups) - The Boeing company choses St. Louis for it potential jet manufacturing plant. Boeing has placed a bid for these new jet fighters. If Boeing wins the contract to replace the aging T-38, they will start planning for the new plant right away. The U.S. Air Force is expected to award an estimated $16 billion contract for an initial 350 aircraft late this year. The first two Boeing T-X trainer aircraft has already completed it's first test flight in St. Louis
Boeing said the production in St. Louis would support 1,800 direct and indirect jobs and support business in and around the facility. Boeing currently employs 14,000 people locally in Missouri in 2016, The T-X jobs would be part of the company's incentives they have agreed to with Missouri for the plant being located there. The state of Missouri could add 2,000 new jobs over the next 10 years. This manufacturing deal means big boost for local St. Louis jobs.
